Academic Program

General Information

Stanbridge Academy offers unique, multi-modal curricular programs for all students grades K-12. Small class sizes allow instructors to work closely with students, and a variety of assistive technologies and resources are available to students and teachers alike. Instructors are sensitive to each student's unique learning differences and establish individualized goals that meet the student's needs while teaching to the California state standards.
The experiential component of the Stanbridge curriculum is an integral part of the Stanbridge Academy experience.  These experiences provide students with opportunities for learning and growth outside of the classroom walls. Program activities generally occur while school is in session and are counted as school days.
For students who need social skills education as part of their school program, the Social Cognitive Curriculum at Stanbridge Academy draws from the research, materials, and resources developed by leading experts in the field.  Goals are individualized, and group activities focus on developing a variety of social cognitive skills with the intent of fostering independence in these skills.
The Stanbridge Program includes a community service component providing students opportunity to interact with the local, surrounding community.  Students have donated their services to food banks, Habitat for Humanity, parks, car washes, food drives and food banks, toiletry drives, Arbor Day planting, and environmental activities.  High school community service hours earned are recorded on each student’s official transcript. 
The high school programs offers students academic choices and electives.  All electives may not be offered each semester or each year. 
The Elementary School includes four divisions: lower elementary (K-grade 2), middle elementary (grades 3,4), upper elementary (grades 5, 6) and junior high (grades 7,8).  The High School includes grades 9-12.

Homework

The Stanbridge homework policy is that homework in an assessment tool, rather than instruction. Homework assignments should not become burdensome to the point of incompletion.  Homework hours per course generally range in length.

220 units of credit are required for graduation.
