My experience in education has taken me on a rather diverse path to Stanbridge. I have been an educator in public, private and charter schools, urban and suburban. I have served as a volunteer, elementary classroom teacher, middle school reading specialist, director of special education and curriculum, elementary principal, assistant superintendent and executive director of a school. Through all these twists and turns and learning opportunities, one thing has remained constant no matter my position: the students. They are the reason every educator, no matter their title or position, is there for and responsible to help. The kids are what it’s all about! Their energy and candor is contagious. It is this whirlwind, called children, that gets us back with a smile wondering what challenges will await and inspire us today.
You used to live on the East Coast, what brought you to California and the Bay Area?
I have three children spread around the country. My oldest daughter, Lisa, lives in Maine with her family of 5. My son, John, resides in Connecticut with his wife, Kendal and my youngest daughter, Jessica lives here in the Bay Area with her husband Jimmy and my adorable grandson, AJ. I moved out to California when AJ was born three years ago, and he is the reason I am in California now.
What makes you most excited about working at Stanbridge?
I am trilled to be back in the classroom, working in a school with such an amazing staff of dedicated professionals. As a lifelong learner, I can't wait to see what my students will teach me everyday!
What is one fun fact about yourself?
I have always loved more extreme sports, but my favorites are white water rafting and kayaking! I never turn down an opportunity to go!
