Hello again. As we approach the midpoint of October, there is a noticeable uptick in activity on the Stanbridge calendar. With Monday, October 14 a day off for the Columbus Day holiday, the school week ahead begins on Tuesday, and our Junior High students will set sail on their own adventure--a three-day overnight trip to Westminster Woods. This is the last of the major overnight experiential trips this fall, and details and the packing list for the trip can be found on the Files & Forms page. Chris and Camille are still sorting through pictures from the high school trip to Web of Life School, but pictures from all of the other divisional trips have been posted in the Media Room.
It's a short, but busy week next week, with a number of sophomores and juniors taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 16. Parents and guardians who wanted to enroll their student for the test should have made arrangements with Resource Specialist Diane Chau. If your student will be taking the PSAT, please ensure they get a good night's sleep on Tuesday, eat a healthy breakfast on Wednesday morning, and arrive to school on time.
In addition to the Monday holiday, students will also have a day off on Friday, October 18. We will be holding a professional development day for the staff, so students will get another long weekend. They may need the extra rest, because the following week is another busy one. On Tuesday, October 22, we will be holding our first ever Day of Service in high school. All high school students will be participating in one of three community service projects that afternoon. Check the Files & Forms page for details on which project your student is scheduled to participate in, and be sure to return any of the necessary permission forms/waivers by this coming Thursday. Our thanks to Susan Kufer for helping to coordinate this special event.
Also ahead on the calendar: the first high school dance of the school year. The dance will be held the night of Friday, October 25 in Hayden Hall. More details and the permission form will be forthcoming. October 25 also marks the end of the first quarter, and parent-teacher conferences will be held the following Monday and Tuesday. As we have done in the past, we will be scheduling conference times online through our website. Be sure to check the blog and your email next week for an alert on when e-signups are open for scheduling your conferences.
Finally, a few closing notes:
• The minutes from the October SPA meeting have been posted on the SPA Spot page.
• We are still accepting donations for the "Cheers to 30 Years!" auction. A donor packet is available to download on our Files & Forms page.
• Speaking of the "Cheers to 30 Years!" gala...invitations were mailed this past week. Please RSVP promptly as there is limited seating available and we anticipate that this event will sell out.
• And remember that our 2013-2014 Annual Fund Campaign is underway. This year, we've made giving to the Annual Fund easier than ever with an online donation option. Click over to the Donate Now! page for details.
That's all for this week. Enjoy the long weekend and see you back at school on Tuesday!
