Hello again and welcome to another edition of The Bridge. The relative calm of the past few weeks has officially come to an end as we begin October with a flurry of activity. It all started on Sunday with the Hot Rod Hoedown, and what a day it was. With perfect weather and a great turnout, the hoedown was a fantastic way to end September. My thanks to the many parent (and student) volunteers who helped make this year's festivities so successful, particularly event coordinator Michelle Foy. Pam Ehrlich has more notes on the hoedown in this week's SPA Spot, including a list of all the Pie Contest winners, and Chris has posted a number of photographs from Sunday's event in our online photo gallery.
This past week featured a special Transitions meeting for high school parents. Hosted by Melissa and Meagan, the session featured discussions about the various options available to Stanbridge students after graduation and the necessary planning they entail. Following on the tails of the seniors "Transition Week," the meeting provided a great opportunity to gather and share information regarding post-secondary opportunities. If you weren't able to attend, Chris will be posting materials from the meeting online next week and SPA will be hosting a special round table discussion on "Life After Stanbridge" this coming Thursday, Oct. 11. (For more on that event, click here, or visit the SPA Spot). Speaking of SPA, don't forget that this coming Wednesday, Oct. 10, is the monthly SPA meeting at 8:30 a.m. in Hayden Hall. All parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.
In addition to the SPA activities this coming week, the week ahead features a few other items of note. First, remember that Monday is Columbus Day and there is no school. On Tuesday, our Junior High students will depart on their fall experiential trip to Pigeon Point. The group will return on Friday, Oct. 12 and you can read more about it on our Forms page. Wednesday's SPA meeting will also be the official kickoff for this year's Annual Fund Campaign, with campaign chairs Laura Winfrey and Gloria Principe in attendance to answer any and all of your questions about the Annual Fund. More to come regarding the Annual Fund soon, including an updated Annual Fund webpage where you'll be able to pledge online.
Last but not least, a few closing notes:
• Susan Kufer has organized a community service activity for junior high and high school students on Friday, Oct. 19 at BOK Ranch (that day is an in-service day for teachers; no school for students). Details and forms available on our Community Service and Forms pages.
• Lisa has distributed Scholastic Book Order forms for October. If you would like one for your student, you can contact Lisa via email, or visit our Book Orders page to order online.
