Hello again and welcome to another edition of The Bridge. We're halfway through the first month of school now, and while next week is relatively quiet, things really get cooking as we approach the end of the month. Before I get to the details of what lies ahead, a brief administrative note: Recently, there have been some complaints about the pick-up protocol in the parking lot. For safety reasons, please refrain from parking/waiting in the passing lane. Our parking lot is very small and gets easily congested when drivers do not have space to manuever. Keeping one lane open at all times ensures that traffic will be able to flow more smoothly and not get stretched out onto Poplar Ave. If you need to park and no space is available in the lot, please find street parking on the side of the building or across the road.
Speaking of cars provides a natural segue into our Hot Rod Hoedown, coming up in just two weeks on Sunday, September 30th. SPA is making preliminary preparations and planning will be in full swing after next week. With that said, please ensure you RSVP by Friday, Sept. 21. Pam has much more information about the Hoedown on her SPA Spot page, so please visit when you are done here. And please consider volunteering if you are able. It is a lot of work to set-up and clean-up an event like this and we can use all the helping hands we can get!
Two events coming up next week to note on your calendars: Wednesday, Sept. 19 is Back to School Night, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. here on campus. As I've stated, this is an important event since it gives you the chance to meet with all of your child's teachers and discuss the class content, curriculum, policies and goals. Chris will be posting this year's updated curriculum guide online next week, but being at BTS Night firsthand is an ideal way to ensure that you, your student and his/her teachers are all staring the year on the same page. Please make an effort to attend.
Also next week: Yearbook picture day is Friday, Sept. 21. Please ensure your student comes to school that day dressed in the appropriate uniform (see the Parent-Student Handbook for reference). If you would like to order additional prints, you can download an order form on our Forms page. If your student is absent on Friday, there will be a make up picture day on October 11th.
Between now and October, we have a number of experiential trips scheduled. Students from all divisions will be going on their fall experientials between September 24th and October 19th. For details on all the trips, along with permission forms and packing lists, please refer to our Forms page.
Finally, two other stories of note:
- Many of you have already logged-in and activated your QuickSchools account. If you haven't, please check your email inbox for an invitation from Melissa. Instructions for activating the account are in the email and additional details on the program are listed on The Bridge mainpage. Chris will have a more in-depth presentation on how to use QuickSchools at Back to School Night.
- Congratulations are in order for a Stanbridge senior who will be receiving the Boy Scout's Eagle Scout honor this weekend. Details of who, along with his story, are also highlighted on the mainpage.
Looking forward to seeing you all next Wednesday night. Until then, have a great weekend.
