On Friday, June 1, Stanbridge will cap-off Spirit Week with our annual Field Day. Field Day features teams comprised of students and teachers from all divisions competing in picnic-style team games such as three-legged races, water balloon tosses, tug-of-war and more. The event takes place during the school day at Coyote Point Park (just across Highway 101 from Stanbridge) and includes a barbecue lunch.

Spirit Week at Stanbridge begins on Tuesday, May 29th and runs through Friday, June 1st. That Friday, Stanbridge will hold our annual Field Day, where students participate in picnic-style team games. Each team is given a color and students are encouraged to wear the color of their team for the day.

Next year, Stanbridge Academy will be joining thousands of students nationwide to participate in the Close Up Foundation's weeklong Presidential Inauguration Program! Students will be able to witness history in the making as our next president is sworn into office, prescribed in the Constitution of the United States to occur every four years.
We have posted preliminary information (a welcome letter, sample itinerary, and a pre-registration form) on our Forms page. Hard copies of the forms and a brochure are available in the main office. Once the pre-registration form is returned, a deposit of $500 is due by June 30, 2012.
For those interested, an optional question and answer session will be conducted by John Montgomery on Wednesday, May 30th at 8:30 a.m. in his classroom.
On Thursday, May 31, the junior high students will embark on a trip of history and immigration studies as they explore Chinatown in San Francisco. The Junior High division will be professionally escorted around Chinatown by an experienced tour guide, seeing all of the major landmarks, ending with a lunch at the Four Seas Restaurant on Grant Street.

On Tuesday, May 29th, the elementary division will celebrate the end of the year will some fun and a BBQ at Parkside Aquatic Park in San Mateo. The permission form has been posted to our Forms page and is due by Friday, May 25th.
On Friday, May 25, students in John's U.S. History classes will explore the inner workings of the USS Hornet in Alameda. During their time aboard the USS Hornet, they will engage in workshops specifically designed for our high schoolers. The permission form has been posted to our Forms page and is due ASAP.

Stanbridge Graduation is an event not to be missed! Because the San Mateo Performing Arts Center is being renovated, this year's graduation ceremony and reception will be held at Open Door in San Mateo, 4150 Piccadilly Lane, located between 41st and 42nd Avenues. Click here for map and directions.
On Friday, June 8th students are asked to arrive at Stanbridge at the regular time of 8:25 a.m. Students in grades K-8 are required to dress in their formal uniform, white polo with the Stanbridge logo and khaki or navy trousers or skirts. Students and their teachers will be transported by private buses to Open Door that morning. Students sit with their teachers and classmates during the ceremony. The graduation begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. and families of students in all grades are invited to attend.

During the graduation ceremony, additional awards are presented to students in grades K-12. Following the graduation ceremony, a reception will be held in the lobby area of Open Door. All students are to be picked up from Open Door by 12:15 p.m. There will be no return transportation to Stanbridge or train shuttle on this day.
This ceremony is the culmination of many years of hard work on the part of our students. Please join us as we celebrate their successes!
The second group of high school underclassmen will be going on their overnight experiential trip this week. If your student is scheduled for the May 15-18 kayak trip, please ensure he or she arrives to campus by 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning and brings a bag lunch. The group will depart promptly at 8:00 a.m.
If your student forgot any items on the packing list, please ensure he or she has them on Tuesday morning. A full packing list, along with details of the trip, can be found on our Forms page. The forecast looks to be a bit cooler this week, but there should be plenty of sun (and no rain!) to make this a fun trip!
The second group of high school underclassmen will depart on Tuesday morning for their spring experiential trip to Angel Island. Those students going on the trip are asked to bring their bags to school on Monday morning, May 14th. Bags should be dropped off in the multipurpose room where they will be secured until Tuesday morning's departure.
