Hello again and welcome to another edition of The Bridge. All eyes turn to the east coast this weekend as we cheer our 49ers onto the Super Bowl this Sunday, hoping they defeat the Falcons in Atlanta. The next day, we'll be observing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a day off from school, as well as watching the inauguration of President Obama as he begins his next term in office. Of course, in the sea of the 800,000 people expected to attend the ceremony on the National Mall, our Stanbridge Close-Up trip students will be somewhere in the crowd. News so far from chaperones Jeff, John and Camille has been positive, reporting that the group is having a good time. A visit to the Supreme Court is on the agenda, with Monday's inauguration (and post-ceremony inaugural ball) still to come. Again, we'll have more details and highlights next week, along with plenty of photos, too. Back here on the west coast, we can't quite compete with a presidential ball, but we still enjoyed another fantastic 49ers Day today at school. Our thanks to Tara and her student volunteers who helped cook and serve today's hot dog lunch--here's hoping we have reason to celebrate one more 49ers Day in two weeks.
Despite Monday being a day off, next week is still going to be busy. Friday, January 25th marks the end of the second quarter, so be sure your student checks-in with his/her teachers to ensure all homework, tests and projects are complete. Our high school students will have a chance to celebrate the halfway point of the school year as SPA is organizing another trip to the movies after school next Friday. More details, including the movie title and exact times, will be emailed to parents and posted on the SPA Spot page next week.
We've got two deadlines coming-up on Thursday, January 24. The first is to ensure that your student's afterschool clubs form is returned to the main office. The winter iteration of afterschool clubs begin the week of January 28 and we need final enrollment lists by the end of next week. If you need a copy of the form (which includes club descriptions, dates and tuition information), visit our Forms page. Also, Thursday marks the final day of our Crayon Drive for KIDS. Meagan will be gearing-up for her trip to Cambodia and will be packing up the donations next week. You can read more about the crayon drive and KIDS mission on our Community Service page, and view photos from Meagan's trip last year in our Photo Galleries.
Finally, a reminder that we are quickly approaching our donation deadline for the 2012-2013 Annual Fund Campaign. I want to thank the many families who have already contributed to this year's campaign, as well as the parents who have volunteered to help with the behind-the-scenes work. We are closing-in our our campaign goals, but we're not quite there yet. If you have not yet made a pledge or donation, I encourage you to please do so. You can mail or drop-off a check to the main office, or simply submit a pledge using our online form and donate later. We need just a handful of families to make their pledge or donation to reach our participation goal, which will add an additional $5,000 in matching funds to our total. From students to teachers to counselors to parents and guardians, the Annual Fund impacts everyone in the Stanbridge Community. Please give what you can, because every donation truly makes a difference. Thank you.
The time has come to sign-off and let the three-day weekend begin. Enjoy the holiday weekend and Go Niners!
