The final Common Ground Speaker Series event of the 2013-2014 year will be held this week. Dr. Jackson Katz, Ph.D. presents "Tough Guise: Bringing Up Boys of Character" this Tuesday and Wednesday at three Bay Area venues. An innovative educator, filmmaker, and activist, Dr. Jackson Katz provides essential strategies to guide our sons in becoming principled, confident young men. He supports parents in encouraging the development of balanced, fulfilling and realistic masculine identities, which move beyond the portrayals of masculinity that predominate our media and are harmful to both genders. Dr. Katz is creator of the film Tough Guise: Violence, Media and the Crisis of Masculinity. On Tuesday, April 29, Dr. Katz will hold a morning session of his presentation at the Nueva School in Hillsborough, and an evening session at Upper Harker School in San Jose. On Wednesday, April 30, Dr. Katz will conduct a special session for dads during an evening session at Menlo School in Atherton. More information, including times and venue maps, available on our Common Ground page.
