The monthly SPA meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m. in Hayden Hall. More details in this week's SPA Spot.
Tomorrow morning, Jay's 10th and 11th graders are going to visit the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park for a tour. Tomorrow night, Sir Ken Robinson will present The Creative Edge: Inspiring Innovative Thinkers as part of the Common Ground Speaker Series. This is a one night only presentation at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart School's Prep Campus in Atherton. If you are planning on attending, get there early as parking is limited. For more information, including directions, background on the speaker and a video clip, visit our Common Ground page.
Finally, tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. local time, FEMA, the FCC, and NOAA will conduct the first nationwide test of the national Emergency Alert System (EAS). The EAS is a national public warning system that requires broadcasters to make their communications facilities available to the President during a national emergency. The test will affect all television and radio broadcasts. Unlike typical tests that have been conducted before, this message may run up to three and a half minutes. Additionally, residents across the country will experience the test at the same time. Although local and state components of the EAS are tested fairly regularly, there has never been an end-to-end nationwide test of the system. This is being posted as a notification in advance of the EAS test. The regular school day schedule at Stanbridge should not be affected by this event. AP story here. For further information regarding the Emergency Alert System, visit the FCC website.
