Hello again and welcome to another edition of the Weekly Bridge. Love is in the air as we countdown to Valentine's weekend and Winter Break. Plenty going on before the week off, however, so take a moment to read-up on the latest news and notes from campus:
This past Wednesday, the Stanbridge Parent Association held their monthly SPA meeting, and the minutes from that meeting have been posted on the SPA Spot page. Be sure to read over them if you were unable to attend, as the meeting featured a presentation from members of the Harvard Business School's alumni consulting team, who are helping to craft a marketing plan for Stanbridge. The group was present to solicit feedback and comments regarding parent/guardian experiences at the school and to gain additional insight into Stanbridge from this perspective. You can still provide feedback even if you were not at the meeting, so visit the SPA Spot page for details on how to do so.
Also on the SPA Spot page, you'll find information on this week's upcoming Soup From the Heart luncheon. Each year before Valentine's Day, SPA volunteers provide a homemade soup and salad lunch for the Stanbridge staff. This year's SFTH lunch will be held on Thursday, February 12 and SPA is looking for volunteers to help with set-up, serving, clean-up, and/or making soup or contributing other food. If you are interested in participating, please go to the SPA Sign-Up Genius page and indicate what you would like to do to help.
Speaking of SPA help, a big Thank You to the cadre of SPA volunteers who helped make Friday night's High School Valentine's Dance a success. We'll be sure to post photo highlights online later this week. Also coming up later this week, students will be enjoying Valentine-themed activities on Friday afternoon, with each division's afternoon party being organized by the divisional SPA representatives. Be sure to check with your division's rep this week to find out what is being planned and how you can help. (These are busy times for the SPA group—you really should check out the SPA Spot page to stay up-to-date on all of the activities they've got going on).
In other news, amidst all of the Valentine's Day/pre-break hoopla, there are a number of notable lectures and seminars on the calendar. This week, the Common Ground Speaker Series presents featured speaker Ron Lieber, whose lecture "Priceless! The Gift of Financial Literacy" is aimed at helping parents teach money skills that will help their kids to make sound financial and life decisions. There are three opportunities to see this presentation at different Bay Area venues, so click over to our Lectures & Workshops page for details on this and other upcoming events.
This past week, our Annual Fund Campaign Committee launched the "It's No Fund Without You!" campaign. We are striving to secure an additional $10,000 in matching funds if we can get to 100% family participation, and the new campaign is designed to get all Stanbridge families to contribute by April 1. Anonymous donors have pledged $5,000 if our our K-8 division reaches 100% participation; and $5,000 if our high school division hits the 100% participation mark. That match money is in addition to the dollar-for-dollar matches on all new donations and increases in donations from last year. It has never been easier for your gift to go farther, and making a donation is as simple as clicking over to our secure Donate Now page. We're three-quarters of the way toward that 100% goal; if you haven't yet made your contribution to the Annual Fund campaign, please consider giving today. Any amount will make a difference and every donation will have an impact! We truly can't do it without you!
Last but not least, a few closing notes:
- Stanbridge Social Media Czar Mary Stadler has posted a collection of pictures online from last month's lower elementary and middle elementary trip to Pixar Animation Studios. Click over to Stanbridge's Facebook page to see the highlights.
- Our Stanbridge Bulldogs basketball team played their second game of the season on Sunday afternoon against STAR Academy. We'll have a recap and photo highlights posted on our Bulldogs Athletics page later this week.
- Course listings and enrollment forms for this year's Stanbridge Summer School will be available in early-March. If you are planning ahead, however, mark your calendars that this year's Summer School will run from June 22 through July 31. Classes will run in week-long sessions and we are striving to offer something for students in all grade divisions every week of the program. More details will be coming after Winter Break, but you can click over to our Summer School page to read about the program and view last year's course offerings.
- Finally, the Stanbridge Academy Winter Open House will be held on Thursday, February 26 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. This is a great opportunity for visitors to see Stanbridge students and teachers in action and we are asking all current Stanbridge families to help us promote this event. On Friday, all students were given two posters to hang in your neighborhood library, coffee shop, or other social space. You can also click here to download a pdf version of the Open House poster to print at home or share via email. This is our final Open House event scheduled for this school year, so help us spread the word about all that Stanbridge has to offer!
