Bridge to Community College or other AA programThe majority of Stanbridge Academy graduates go on to local community colleges. We are so lucky to live in the Bay Area, where community colleges can provide students with a quality education that's both affordable and accessible. Below are links to our local community colleges and some tips from our years of experience in community college placement. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list. If you would like more information on any community college, please contact Melissa Myers or Meagan Cameron.

College of San Mateo
The College of San Mateo has a beautiful campus overlooking the bay. In the past few years, the school has expanded this campus and built several new academic buildings. Stanbridge shares an excellent relationship with Disabilities Services. We highly recommend the Developmental English classes (Melissa is a former adjunct). Ten graduates have attended this college in the past six years. It's a school that feels like a community.
| Chabot College
Chabot College offers a large number of vocational/trade courses that help students earn an Associates in Science Degree (Everything from Automotive Technology to Bookkeeping and Engineering). Chabot College is also partnered with Americorps Teacher Prep Program where students (who want to be our future teachers!) can earn a stipend toward their education and cost of living while they receive on-the-job-training.

City College of San Francisco
City College of San Francisco has long been known as the place where adjunct professors from Berkeley go when they can't get full-time work. These professors' loss is your gain. City College is another school that boasts a number of new buildings (check out the Ingleside campus). They also now offer a number of FREE non-credit courses including Consumer Education and Sciences, Disabled Students Services and Programs, and Trade and Industry classes! Another excellent school at a very reasonable cost.
| Foothill College
A number of Stanbridge graduates in the past few years have attended Foothill College in Los Altos Hills for both regular credit classes as well their Transition to Work program. A definite advantage to Foothill is the number of online courses they offer (over 500). They are also known for their excellent tech and computer courses and programs and their connection to Silicon Valley businesses. Their Disability Resource Centeroffer several forms of assistive technology and adaptive computer technology for those that qualify.

Landmark College
Landmark College is a small school in Vermont specifically catering to students with LDs. The school only offers AA degrees which are generally completed within two years. Landmark has a fantastic Disabilities Service Center and exceptional academic support on a small, rural campus that "feels like a University." Landmark also offers a Bridge Semester as well as Summer Bridge courses in both Vermont and Oregon; several Stanbridge students have enrolled these. The school also offers on-going informational sessions and open house opportunities throughout the year. Landmark loves Stanbridge students! Open House dates in 2012: March 3, April 14, May 5, June 16.
| Art Institute of California-San Francisco
Students who are interested in earning an AA in Fashion, Media Arts, Culinary, or Design are encouraged to apply to the Art Institute. This is a good choice for students who are not quite ready for earning their BA or who desire to move into the workforce as quickly as possible.
