Junior High Mathematics Teacher, Grades 7 & 8
Stanbridge Academy seeks a talented, versatile, and highly qualified mathematics teacher for its Junior High division. Stanbridge is a small, private, K-12 school in San Mateo, California serving students with mild-moderate learning differences. Class sizes are small (usually 8:1) to accommodate the needs of diverse learners. Successful teachers at Stanbridge match enthusiasm for subject matter with a strong interest in building meaningful, trusting relationships with students. In addition to a strong, standards-based academic program, Stanbridge emphasizes the development of social thinking skills, executive functioning, and positive self-concept. Teachers work as part of a team with other teachers in their division.
Mathematics is an important area of curricular focus at Stanbridge. We seek a math teacher who is interested in developing professionally and in helping the school enhance its mathematics program.

Required for the Mathematics position:
- Two years teaching experience in mathematics in upper elementary, junior high, or high school
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
- Experience with special needs populations
- Willingness to differentiate instruction, think outside the box, and teach in a variety of ways in an effort to reach students who struggle to learn
- Willingness to attend 1-2 overnight trips per year with students
- Confidence with the use of technology as instructional support
- Calm, even temperament, and a great sense of humor
Preferred for the Mathematics position:
- A California or out-of-state teaching credential, or plans to earn one
- The ability to lead professional development in math instruction at the junior high or high school level
- Experience with Making Math Real
