Curriculum Overview:
In this course, students receive Physical Education instruction five days a week for 30 minutes a day. Instruction will be provided in the areas of motor skill development, fitness, sports and social development. Students engage in physical activities specifically related to the components of physical fitness. Students learn and have the opportunity to experience the differences between personal challenges and competition. Recreational activities and sports provide an opportunity for personally responsibility, cooperation and team/small group and partner activities.

For students to become familiar with different styles of artwork as well as various processes for making two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork, and inclusive of the California State Visual Art Education Content Standards.

For students to become familiar with different styles of artwork as well as various processes for making two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork, and inclusive of the California State Visual Art Education Content Standards.
Course Goals:
- Name art materials and techniques (e.g., clay, paint, and crayons) introduce in lessons and experiment making projects with different art mediums such as, drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media.
- Recognize and describe simple patterns found in the environment and works of art.
- Demonstrate beginning skill in the use of tools and processes, such as the use of scissors, glue, paper, etc. in creating two-dimensional work and three-dimensional construction.
- View art reproductions made by artists as well as children’s literature that relate to varying mediums and techniques as inspiration for student.
- Follow a three-step procedure for each art process introduced.

Course Overview:
Students will learn the basics of music including, rhythm, beat, tone, expression, music notation and genre. They will be introduced to and study a majority of the genres of music and the great composers of each. Music instruction is an organic learning process and is adjusted to the needs of each class. In the upper grades music technology is introduced and encouraged.
