"Our daughter enrolled at Stanbridge as a freshman in high school. The first few months were really hard for her. She had had such a difficult prior school experience that just getting her to school everyday was a challenge. Slowly, she learned that Stanbridge was different. The teachers understood how to facilitate her learning. They made her feel cared about and confident. She began to make new friends and by the end of her freshman year, she received the award for most improved high school student. In her sophomore year, she had a very serious health issue that caused her to be out of school for over six weeks. The support of her teachers and classmates kept her spirits up while she was recovering and enabled her to complete all her work. Her junior and senior years were ones of continuous growth. 
     "At Stanbridge she learned that she could succeed, that she could be her own best advocate, that she had real strengths and that she could be a leader. She was determined to go to a four year college. She found and applied to two schools that would waive standardized test scores for a high GPA from a WASC accredited school. She was accepted at both. Today we found out that she was awarded an unsolicited academic scholarship for the coming semester based on her first semester grades at the university she chose to attend. She uses the services of the Disability Resource Center on campus and knows exactly what kinds of accommodations she needs for each class. On a campus of 16,000 students, she makes sure her instructors know her and know her needs. It's amazing to watch her in action, and it is due in large part to the education, the tools, the skills and the self confidence that grew out of her time at Stanbridge. Stanbridge provided a safe, nurturing environment that allowed our daughter the opportunity to grow and flourish and, not the least of all, to make friendships that I know will be lifelong. Stanbridge changed her life."
