Things get off to a creative start upon our return, with the annual Maker's Fair beginning on Monday and running through the week. This event will feature student-created models and artwork, and all students are invited to display their innovations and creations. Entries cannot exceed 2' x 2' in size, but there are few other limitations. Submissions can include any three-dimensional artistic creation--from LEGO sets and model kits to homemade sculptures and Rube Goldbergs. Interested students should bring their creations to school on Monday, April 13 and works will be on display in Hayden Hall through Friday. At the end of the week, there will be "Best in Show" prizes for entries in each grade division. If you have specific questions about this exciting event, email James Warren.
Also ahead this week, the monthly SPA Bake Sale will be held this Friday, April 17. As usual, students will be able to purchase baked goods and snacks for $1 during their lunch periods. This is the last scheduled Bake Sale for this school year and we are still in need of volunteers to provide items. If you would like to assist, click over to the SPA Sign-Up Genius page to volunteer. Don't forget to visit the SPA Spot page either, where you will find minutes from the April 1 SPA meeting, plus notes on this month's EdRev event and next month's high school prom.
Prom is one of the many end-of-the-school-year milestones, and the big dance is just a few weeks away.
This year's Stanbridge High School Prom will be held on Friday, May 1, and all Stanbridge high school students are invited to attend. The event will be held from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. in Hayden Hall, and will feature a catered sit-down dinner served by faculty chaperones, followed by dancing and group games/activities. Attendees are welcome to bring a guest or come solo; tickets (or "bids") are $40 per person and must be purchased in advance from the Main Office. Bids will be available to purchase later this week, and more details about this year's prom will be announced as well, so check your email and the Bridge Blog for updates.
This week also marks our last opportunity to secure the $10,000 in bonus matching funds for this year's Annual Fund Campaign. Stanbridge will receive a bonus $5,000 if all K-8 families make a donation by April 15, and another $5,000 if all high school families get their donations in by this Wednesday. That's $10,000 in extra funds for Stanbridge if every family simply makes a donation. If you have not yet given, please help us in securing these extra funds! Any amount will help and every donation makes a difference! Donation envelopes are available in the main office, and you can also give via credit or debit card through our secure online platform, just click over to our Donate Now page. We are currently at 94% overall participation, with the lower elementary, middle elementary, and junior high divisions having reached the 100% family participation mark. We are so close to meeting our goal! If you have not yet donated, please consider making your contribution this week. Together, we can get to 100%!
Looking beyond this week, we have another round of spring experientials on the horizon. Be sure your calendars are marked for these upcoming trips:
- April 19-24: High School - Trip to Washington, D.C. (with Close-Up)
- April 22-24: High School - Trip to Sonoma Coast
- May 5-7: Junior High - Trip to Westminster Woods
Before signing off, a two brief reminders:
- Third quarter report cards are being finalized and will be mailed home later this week.
- The 2015 Summer School course guide and enrollment forms will be distributed to students and posted online this Friday, April 17. Summer School at Stanbridge begins the week of June 22 and runs through the end of July. Full details will be available once the course guide is published, and there is something being offered for students in every grade division during all six weeks of the program.
