We had a busy week as we kicked off the 4th quarter. High School alternates Spring Experiential week every other year with travel to Washington, D.C. for our Juniors and Seniors, local overnights for Ninth and Tenth graders, and Bay Area Day Trips for all HS students. This year we stayed local with two days off campus at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Hillsdale Mall, complete with an escape room experience and bowling, followed by two days on campus preparing and serving a delicious luncheon to include empanadas from scratch for all of High School.
The Bulldog Flag Football team had their first game on Thursday! It was great seeing so many parent supporters out on our "Home" field at MLK Park. Our team went into overtime and ended with a tie score of 28 - 28! Go Bulldogs! Thank you coaches Daniel Q., Gage, and Tevita for helping our Stanbridge students shine on the field. We had a full day of Parent-Teacher Conferences today. Thank you for the continued partnership between families and teachers. Our staff strives to know your children's academic and social needs well, helping them to achieve their personal best. Our students and staff look forward to closing out our final week before Spring Break with Bunny Bingo in our Neighborhood Groups on Friday. Families are encouraged to bring in outgrown clothes by Friday, too, and/or pre-loved camping gear (see article below). Stay Strong Bulldogs! — Danny Martin, Principal Dear Stanbridge Community,
The Stanbridge Academy Showcase series traditionally takes place mid-winter afternoons before dismissal. We invite current parents to experience the learning that your child is engaging in at school. Think of Showcases as what used to be called (in our school days) a traditional school open house. Each division showcase builds on previous learning to challenge our students in public speaking, presentation skills, sharing of knowledge, individuality and creativity. Please see your division schedule and plan to have at least one family member attend the event. Also plan to arrive early for parking, as both our lot and the neighborhood are sure to be impacted by these community events. HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION High School classes will have two to three student speakers per class period. We will follow your individual student's daily schedule. Please pick one up in Hayden Hall prior to programming.
Middle School Advisory Groups will present slide decks about life in Middle School. We will meet in Advisory classrooms. Please pick up your individual student's daily schedule in Hayden Hall prior to programming.
Families will gather in Hayden Hall to see a variety of presentation formats by all students.
Stay Strong, Bulldogs! Danny Martin Principal Monday is a National Day of Service to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a world-famous civil rights campaigner. "He is considered one of the great orators of modern times, and his speeches still inspire many to this day," (ducksters.com). Check out places to volunteer in your home community, read non-fiction books together at your local library (there are plenty of children's books on civil rights), or look up Martin Luther King, Jr. online to read about his contributions and help continue the conversation at home at an appropriate level. There are so many more ways to contribute.

We ended the year with a visit from the one-and-only Stanbridge Santa and lively performances at the Annual Holiday Concert. A highlight of the concert is the leadership of performance arts teacher Tobias Banks, he certainly makes our students shine bright. Thank you all for supporting this annual event. (Stay tuned to social media over break for lots of pictures... and get a sneak peek in the weekly collages below!) Thank you to the Stanbridge community for your thoughtfulness, generosity, and support. We appreciate the gifts and the snacks that were brought in for the staff on Tuesday, as well as through the rest of the week. We were able to feast on savory and sweet treats all week long! ANNUAL FUND UPDATE We have now reached over 85% participation in the 2024-25 annual fund from our parent community! A special thank you to our Advancement committee members Cindy Kuenhle, Kinga Czegeni, and Sherrie Shagong for sending emails and making calls to help us close the gap. It takes a village – we appreciate all you do for our community. We all wish you health and happiness as you head off into Winter Break to celebrate the holidays. Spending time with friends and family to laugh, relax, and recharge. Wishing you joy to come in 2025. Happy Holidays! Julie Smith & Danny Martin The winter holiday break is fast approaching and the weather is turning cold. A reminder that the campus opens at 8:00 a.m. Students should be dressed warm enough to be outside in the morning and should not be dropped off prior to 8:00 a.m. when the front door is unlocked. Teachers are often preparing for classes and there is no supervision on campus prior to that time.
Winter Clubs started this week and are off to a successful start! We still have a few openings in Sports Center on Thursday. Basketball, Sports Play and Thursday Bowling have limited slots still available, too. Please reach out to Linda with any interest in these after school enrichment courses. This Tuesday the 10th, we have an Open House for prospective elementary students for the 2025/26 school year. If you know of any non-Stanbridge families looking for a place for their neurodiverse student to land next year, please have them reach out to Emily Mitchell, Director of Admissions. They can also take a look at our website that has plenty of information about Admissions to get them started, including a direct inquiry form. The Winter Concert is coming up on Friday, December 20th at 1:00 p.m. This is an annual event highlighting our K-12 Music program and sending us all off on our holiday break. Nearly every music student performs! If your student will be absent, please let the Front Office know as soon as possible so that we can be prepared. Stay Strong, Bulldogs! Danny Martin Principal Dear Stanbridge Parents,
It is hard to believe that November has arrived. The Book Fair is here, Turkey BINGO is right around the corner, Winter Clubs will come out next week, and we are looking ahead to the end of our first semester. It’s been an incredible school year already…with so much more to come! This Monday is a day off for students for the second day of online Parent-Teacher Conferences. For those who served in the military or have family members who served, Monday is also for you – we humbly thank you for your service this Veteran's Day and every day. We have a large internal class of 5th graders this year. As such, we have decided to hold another “Stanbridge family only” Open House–this time for incoming Middle School families–to learn more about our amazing program. Upper Elementary families are welcome to join us on the morning of December 3rd from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Come learn about the middle school program, tour classrooms, and get questions answered the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The heart of our school is our students and we hope that you will continue your journey here with us! (To accommodate the tremendous interest in our Middle School program from families outside of Stanbridge, we will host an Open House for the public the following Tuesday, December 10th.) Read about the Book Fair, learn our first day total, check out next week's hours, and see more pictures by CLICKING HERE! Stay Strong, Bulldogs! Danny Martin Principal Dear Stanbridge Community,
We are looking forward to seeing you at the Back to School Picnic this Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Parking is limited around Burlingame Community Center and the adjoining park. Please consider parking on a side street and walking in to the park. In addition, the weather is supposed to be lovely – please bring your own sunscreen, hats, and water bottles. We will be serving Jersey Mike's sandwiches (some gluten free, some vegetarian), water, chips and cookies. If you have other food preferences or allergies, please feel free to bring your own food. There will be some games, bubbles, musical instruments, and balls for families to play with. Please feel free to bring your own favorite lawn or table game to play with others. You may also want to bring your own chairs or picnic blankets to sit upon, as well. There will be tables set up to identify our area. Please stop by to get your name tags and, if you have already made your donation to the Annual Fund, your small thank you gift. See you there and Stay Strong, Bulldogs! Dear Stanbridge Community,
This week our Ninth graders went on the first experiential trip of the year! It's always very exciting to see our students leave and come back from these trips. (See this week's collage post for select pictures.) The students come back a little more self-assured, much closer to each other and the staff that accompanies them. This trip to Camp SEA Lab in Aptos gave our students a taste of marine research and the ocean ecosystem – they even participated in a sandcrab counting study. Experiential trips are essential because they allow our students to learn outside of the classroom, seeing the world outside themselves. Experientials are unique to Stanbridge, both for the individualization of their 'outdoors' curriculum and because it is part of the students' overall school experience. For Eighth grade parents wondering if your child will go on this or other experientials in High School, we will be holding a special session for our families to talk about High School at Stanbridge. In fact, we will be holding several open houses over the next few months welcoming current and prospective families alike. Stanbridge families are welcome to attend the sessions that relate to their children's needs. Admissions Open Houses are being held at 9:00 am on the following Fall Tuesdays:
