Thank you to all the parents who donated to this great cause. Have a good weekend and go Bulldogs! –Sofie M., Student Government Deputy We are down to 21 school days for students and the next few weeks are busy with events. A BIG thank you to the Middle School team for spending time away from their families to help our students grow.
This coming week, our Elementary students will close out the year with experientials of their own. Upper El will head south to Watsonville for their overnight at Farm Discovery, while Lower El and Middle El heads north for a day trip to the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens.
Have a beautiful weekend and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! – Danny Martin, Principal From breakfast to lunch, as well as all the goodies, gift cards, notes, and gratitude in between, on behalf of all the faculty & staff, thank you to all the families who spoiled us this appreciation week! Your little notes and drawings are often cherished and truly help us get through the day. Thank you, as well, to Student Government for providing lunch from Chipotle yesterday for the entire school – students and staff.
Field Day We ushered in the new month with a fabulously spirited week, wrapping up today with Field Day at the Burlingame Parks and Recreation center fields. Huge thanks to our co-Athletic Directors, Daniel Quinal and Gage Daniel, for planning and executing a successful day of field competitions. Our neighborhood groups bonded and stepped up to the plate for a host of games before lunch. AND what a delicious lunch it was! Casadores' catered taco bar was a hit for students and staff alike. The day ended with our students winning the tug-of-war against faculty and staff. I know we were outnumbered, but students really brought their A-game to the match! We didn’t stand a chance. They got us two-for-one this week, winning the annual Student vs. Staff Basketball Game on Wednesday, as well. Thank you to our Stanbridge Parent Association volunteers for all your help and support led by Claire Collet, Pamela Davies, and Lisa Kennedy. It takes a village and we are so glad to have all of you as partners. Please come to our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast this Wednesday so we can thank you appropriately for all you do for our school. One Community, Many Cultures Stanbridge is a community that has many different cultures and we are in the midst of numerous celebrations. Yom Ha'atzmaut was yesterday, May 1; Monday, May 5, is Cinco de Mayo; and the month of May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Your donation will help those in need. We have decided to extend the deadline for donations to Monday, April 21st. If you do some Spring cleaning over the break, and find clothes you would like to donate, please bring them to Stanbridge once we are back from the break. We will have a Bake Sale on the Friday after we come back from Spring Break (April 25th). Please bring money to purchase delicious baked goods from SPA. Note there will be no StuGov sale on May 2nd due to Field Day. Go Bulldogs! – Daniel C., Secretary Hello Stanbridge,
My name is Monie, and I am the President of the Student Government. I will be sharing some information about some of the things we are discussing in our meetings. One of the things we are planning is a used clothing drive starting next week. We are asking parents if they can find clothes that don't fit their child anymore to donate to the Samaritan House. We will have a bin located right inside the front door of school, where clothing can be dropped off. The clothing drive will be taking place starting March 11th through April 11th. When we are done collecting all the clothes, the Student Government will take it to the Samaritan House after Spring Break. We ask that all students check the Stanbridge Lost and Found for any missing jackets or water bottles that they may be missing. We will also be donating the Lost and Found items to the Samaritan House after Spring Break. Our next sale coming up is the Costco Pizza Sale which will be on Friday, March 14th. Because of the high demand for hot dogs, we will keep on selling them. Parents please note on the Pizza Form how many pieces of pizza your child is buying. We will also be selling chicken Caesar salads as well. Finally, Student Government has narrowed down and figured out the themes for Spirit Week at the end of April. The days are listed below:
– Monie A., Student Government President For this week's Student Government update we will hear from Secretary Daniel C. who will fill you in on what the government has been up to:
In Student Government, we decided to change from selling pizza from Pizza My Heart to Costco pizza. Selling from Costco allows us to offer students a new pizza option with good quality that would continue to make profit as a fundraiser. We did a taste test from Little Caesars and Costco and we decided which pizza place tasted better. After discussion we decided to offer Costco for our next Pizza Sale. We are excited for this switch! We have had discussions about purchasing sports items for break time so students can have more athletic equipment to use at break and lunch. We will keep you updated as we figure out exactly what we want to buy. For Halloween we decided that we wanted to have a "guess the amount of candy in the jar" activity [on October 25th]. I think the students had a lot of fun doing it! We are glad so many of you participated in that fun activity. I have continued to love every moment of being in Student Government. My favorite part of being in Student Government is helping out and working the Friday sales. Thank you everyone for continuing to support us for our sales. Next Friday, November 22, is our monthly Bake Sale and also Turkey Bingo. We then have Thanksgiving Break. Have a good weekend, Bulldogs! –Daniel C., 2024-2025 Student Government Secretary Student Government is excited to announce an important update with regard to the monthly Pizza Sale. As has been alluded to in a few of the Bulletins this school year, Student Government has been researching other options with which to get our pizza from for the Pizza Sale. Student Government felt that it was an appropriate time to find another restaurant that was reasonably priced but also offering quality pizza which the students could enjoy.
Several members of Student Government researched different pizza places, looking at their prices, checking to make sure we had a gluten free option, and seeing the reviews of various pizza establishments. We narrowed it down to two new options which we then decided to taste-test to see if we felt the quality of the pizza was up to snuff for our student body. We taste tested Costco pizza and also Little Caesars pizza. We had our vote in this week's Student Gov meeting and have decided to switch to Costco pizza! We will continue to offer cheese and pepperoni pizza. What has changed is that we won't be selling gluten-free pizza anymore, but rather selling a chicken Caesar salad, which will be our gluten-free option. The Costco chicken Caesar salad comes with croutons, but they come in a separate pouch, so those who are gluten free simply don't have to have the croutons. [Caesar dressing is also not gluten free, but also comes on the side. We have ordered ranch dressing pouches for gluten-free students ordering salad.] Student Government is excited to make this switch to Costco pizza, starting with the next Pizza Sale–Friday, November 8th. The Pizza Form, included in this Bulletin, has been updated to reflect the slight changes in what we will be selling for the Pizza Sale. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this switch, please don't hesitate to reach out. The members of Student Government are super excited to make this switch, which has been months in the making, and we look forward to seeing students' reactions to the new pizza! –Kenny Katz, Student Government Faculty Advisor Student Government would like to thank the parents who provided the baked goods for today's Bake Sale. As per usual, the students loved them and we are appreciative of your generosity!
Student Government has been in discussions about and researching potentially switching the location where we get our pizza for the monthly pizza sales. We conducted a taste test recently to try out a potential alternative, to see if we think a different pizza is something our students would like. We also taste tested a second pizza location this week, as we continue to narrow down our search. Stay tuned! The Halloween Dance is tonight! We want to thank everyone who played a part in making this first dance of the school year a success! Thank you to SPA for chaperoning, decorating, cleaning up, and providing the delicious treats and drinks that students got to enjoy. Thank you to Tobias and the DJ students who rock requested tunes. Thank you Linda for ordering the delicious pizza and salad from Mountain Mike's. Thank you to Arielle and Linda for making the Google Form. Thank you to Peter for putting up the LED lights in the courtyard. Thank you to Student Government for rallying students to attend, planning various aspects of the dance, such as the Mountain Mike's Pizza, and for advocating for the needs and interests of our students. Thank you to all the current students, alumni, and guests for attending the Halloween Dance. Thank you to Cindy, Linda, Kantodeia, Gladys, Tobias, and Kenny for chaperoning tonight! This dance saw high student turnout of both current students and recent alumni. Students were stoked to get to see their former English teacher, Sarin, who also came to the dance! It was such a thrill to see everyone having a blast together! Many happy memories were made, and we are thrilled that everyone had a wonderful time at our first dance of the 2024-2025 school year. Next week Student Government will have a Snack Shack on Thursday October 31st, because Friday there is no school for the students. Please have your child bring their dollars if you would like them to purchase a snack to supplement their lunch. Thanks everyone, have a great weekend, and Go Bulldogs! –Kenny Katz, Student Government Faculty Advisor Student Government has gotten into a rhythm these last few weeks! The new members have quickly learned the ropes from the veteran members about the standard operating procedures for all of our sales. The members are energized, motivated, and working collaboratively to run our sales each week. Speaking of sales, we would like to thank SPA for providing such delicious treats for our first Bake Sale of the school year! We thank you and appreciate you!
This week in Student Government, discussions began about things we could purchase for the school with the funds that we get through our weekly Friday sales. This will be a process, but already, students are thinking deeply about ideas that can improve the experience of students at Stanbridge. One such idea under consideration is installing another microwave in the courtyard, as this year students have seen slightly longer lines to use the microwaves at lunchtime. Student Government is currently researching a variety of pizza places as we consider changing the location of where we get our pizza for our monthly Pizza Sale. Members are taking initiative and looking at the prices of different pizza places, as well as their quality, as we consider switching to a different restaurant. We will keep you updated as we continue to research and weigh our options. Our Student Government wants to hear from our students! This week we put our Suggestion Box back in the front office, where students from any division are welcome to write down ideas and suggestions that they would like Student Government to consider. Your input is taken seriously and is greatly appreciated! –Kenny Katz, Student Government Faculty Advisor This past Tuesday, our Student Government (StuGov) gathered and convened our first session of the 2024-2025 school year! Our officers and representatives met for the first time as new members were introduced and welcomed into this year's StuGov. All of our officers and representatives came into our first meeting highly motivated and energized, ready to serve! During this first meeting, our team discussed norms and nominated peers whom they thought would be willing to serve as deputies for this school year. Deputies assist Student Government with Friday sales or other activities. Also discussed was the protocol surrounding how the first Snack Shack would be conducted. Thank you to the members who volunteered and facilitated today's Snack Shack. (See pictures below.)
Please welcome this year's team as the elected student voice of Stanbridge:
