Description: Students should have a prerequisite of foundational number sense skills. This year, students will build upon those basic number sense skills and apply it to foundational skills for rational numbers (fractions, decimals, percents) through building number concepts and problem solving using models, measuring, probability, and coordinate graphing.

Learning Outcomes

  • Concept of fractions and part-to-whole relationships
  • Magnitude, equivalence, and the addition and subtraction of fractions
  • Multiplication and division of fractions
  • Working with mixed numbers
  • The concept of decimal numbers
  • Operations on decimal numbers
  • Understanding percent
  • Integers
  • Operations on integers
