Academics, Experientials, Support Services and more
The Stanbridge program strives to prepare our students to succeed academically and socially to their potential. Students learn in small, structured classes where individualized and differentiated instruction following California standards based curriculum occurs. Recognizing that each student has his own learning style, information is typically presented in a variety of formats employing multiple senses by a dedicated staff of talented teachers. Many of our classrooms have interactive whiteboards and document cameras that are used during instruction. Technology is incorporated into the classroom. Our unique Experiential Program utilizes carefully planned, on and off-campus activities to enhance and complement classroom learning promoting student personal growth. Opportunities to improve communication and collaborative skills, promote mutual respect and acceptance, improve organizational skills, set appropriate goals and engage in appropriate challenges are all part of the Experiential Program.
Our academic resource staff creates an individual learning profile for each student, to define individual student learning goals and appropriate accommodations. Students receive accommodations and have access to numerous assistive technologies that allow students to access learning effectively and perform to their fullest potential. Our social skills curriculum includes pragmatics instruction, life skills instruction and transition planning. Our Speech and Language staff uses a social cognitive curriculum to teach, practice and improve conversational skills and pro-social behaviors in a variety of environments. Our Bridges Beyond Stanbridge transitions program helps families understand the different options available to their Stanbridge student after graduation. Our Resource Specialists assist with planning for that transition to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible and students are set-up for success. Additional Support Resources within our Program include, academic support, speech and language instruction and counseling. Our technology program includes core assistive technology training. Students generally have access to these core applications and technologies on campus. Our library contains more than 4,000 book titles including reference and reading materials for all grades. Qualified Stanbridge students are provided a means to access digital and audio material resources. |
