Bence C. is a current Stanbridge seventh grader, who first came to us as kindergarten student in 2015. Like many of our elementary students, the journey here was not an easy or smooth one for Bence or his family, but once on campus, they immediately sensed that Stanbridge was the right fit. Below are the details of that story, told by Bence's mother in her own words:
"After a two-year, roller-coaster journey of four preschools and not being able to find an appropriate kindergarten placement for Bence, my son and I landed in Miss Alex’s class at Stanbridge Academy on November 30, 2015 and never left. The warm welcome we received and the competency and compassion of the staff seemed surreal at the time.
"Bence felt at home, safe, and understood after his first day. His new, amazing teacher, Miss Alex, took him under her wing and showed us a path of possibilities. The focus was no longer on his receptive language disorder or ASD diagnosis, but on supporting all the wonderful qualities and talents that my son has. "Stanbridge provides a true community for its students and their families. We feel privileged to be a part of it. As a special educator for more than 20 years, I am appreciative and thankful to have my own child’s future in the hands of such dedicated and outstanding teachers. I have had to accept that our lives will be more like a marathon—however, the race seems easier when you have supportive peers 'running' by your side." |
