Stanbridge Student Government
Each year, students from middle school and high school elect peers to serve on Stanbridge's Student Government. These representatives gain valuable leadership and organization skills by working with faculty advisors to give input on overall school progress, help organize schoolwide projects and events, and disseminate information to their fellow students. Previous accomplishments of Stanbridge Student Government teams include instituting a schoolwide recycling program, launching the Box Tops for Education fundraising program on campus, and raising funds to install a new, eco-friendly water fountain for the school. Student Government members also serve as "ambassadors" for visiting students who are applying to Stanbridge. The traditional offices of Student Government—President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer—are held by high school upperclassmen. Elections for the upcoming academic year are held in May.
Community Service
All Stanbridge students are encouraged to give back to the community through community service. Service opportunities are organized throughout the year by staff, student leadership, and the Stanbridge Parents Association. Annual schoolwide projects include the Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive; collecting "Change for Good" to benefit families in areas struck by natural disasters; toiletry drive to benefit Samaritan House in San Mateo; and the holiday gift drive to benefit the Family Giving Tree.
Additionally, teachers in each grade division organize service events that are age-appropriate for their students and often tie-in to class curriculum. Previous service days have included elementary and middle school students assisting with beach clean up in Half Moon Bay; and high school students volunteering at BOK Ranch, the San Mateo InnVision Shelter, St. Anthony's Dining Room, and the Second Harvest Food Bank.
