- All Payments Due by Friday, June 7 – Due to possible cancellation due to low enrollment, it is important to write a separate check for each week. Checks should be made payable to Stanbridge Academy and delivered to the attention of Linda Bargas in the main office. Please note student and course names in the memo line, especially if using online bill pay through your bank.
- NOTE: ESY courses are open to Admissions Shadows over the Summer.
Summer School 2024 begins the week of June 17-21 and runs through July 22-26 (no classes the week of July 1-5).

Extended School Year for Kindergarten through 4th Grade
Extended School Year for Kindergarten through 4th Grade builds and maintains academic skills in Language Arts, Math, Social Emotional development, and athletics with Daily Yoga to stay fit. ESY is designed to minimize the regression of skills over the summer due to extended time off from a regular school day.

Extended School Year for 5th-8th grades
Extended School Year 5-8: Weeks 1 & 2 dive into cross-curricular learning about natural sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth sciences)! Writing observations and inferences in science journals, creating nature-inspired Haiku poems, calculating in experiments, and engaging with peers in hands-on activities.
Extended School Year 5-8: Week 3 provides students with STEAM-focused, hands-on activities to promote 21st-century skills and social-emotional learning as well as computational thinking, introductory programming, math, language arts, and physical activity. Students will participate in LEGO Spike Robotics team-building activities and challenges in order to develop project management skills (and help launch a Robotics Team!).
Extended School Year 5-8: Week 4 features Art, Engineering and Scientific Thought! We will explore the geometry of buildings, work on scale drawings, engineer and test model structures and discover the art in every building, from house to office space! We will also head out into the community to see architecture in action.
Extended School Year 5-8: Week 5 dusts off the summer cobwebs and prepares for the upcoming school year with true cross-curricular flair -- reading, writing, math, environmental science, cooking, art, and games. Students will learn about a variety of outdoor skills and tools, too. We plan to cap the week off with a hiking trip!

Extended School Year 8-12: Week 1 – Real World Algebra & Tech will help students prepare for the coming year's courses, allowing them to develop a deeper comprehension of various math concepts. Additionally, we will take a deep dive into how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math all intersect in the real world. It will be an opportunity to get even more individualized support and have questions answered as needed.
Extended School Year 8-12: Week 2 – Learn to support and help preserve Mother Nature by investigating the wild world that exists both within and beyond the urban jungle of our cities in Environmental Science! This course will mix classroom learning with outdoor investigations of the local environment in and around campus, utilizing fun activities, games and more to help facilitate learning about Geology, Botany, Hydrology, Zoology, and habitats! Students will learn about Leave No Trace principles and the impacts humans have on the environment, as well.
Extended School Year 8-12: Week 3 – In Pen Your Own Adventure we will create our own a fantasy worlds... including pirates, wizards, unicorns, an odd twist on reality, or wherever your mind can wander! This is a course for dreaming big! Students will research what Fantasy Writing is, discover unending fantasy elements, and identify fantasy stories. Pulling all this together, they will finally storyboard and/or write their very own adventures! We will even share writing prompts to help your creativity flow.
Extended School Year 8-12: Week 5 – Food Science and Cooking will delve into the science of taste, hone basic cooking skills, grasp cost analysis, and elevate meal prep efficiency. Showcase your newfound expertise by preparing a delicious lunch for fellow students and faculty and cap off the week by crafting a delightful family meal. Analytic Gaming CAMPS – ⬇️ CHESS NEEDS AT LEAST ONE ADDITIONAL STUDENT! ⬇️
In addition to the Extended School Year (ESY) offerings for all students, we are pleased to announce a variety of courses designed to keep our Bulldogs engaged and connected to their classrooms and classmates over the long summer break. RPGs (role-playing games) & Analytic Games are ideal for continued education in cooperation and social-emotional learning, which often flounder over the summer due to minimized social interactions.
- The World of RPGs (Dungeons & Dragons) with Tasha welcomes heroes all about having fun, using their imagination, forging friendships, and who want to create a world of adventure! Spend the week braving the unknown, building a character using stats and smarts and fighting the Kraken all while having fun at the gaming table with friends. More advanced players are welcome to create an adventure we can all play. A little math, a little acting, and a lot of imagination are thrown in for good measure, too!!
- Board Game Bonanza! Board games are great to play in any weatherand are fun to play with friends and family. There are all different kinds and types of games, from simple card games where speed is your friend to all day strategy mind benders. This is a great opportunity to learn to play some new games and have fun with the games you love. Learn how to win humbly and lose gracefully.
- Strategy (Game) Scene students learn and play various popular strategy board games while building nuanced social-emotional learning skills such as sportsmanship, cooperation, strategic teamwork, and critical thinking, while gaining confidence and length of focus. Playing board games can also help strengthen friendships, reduce stress, increase enthusiasm, and break the ice with strangers. Our students often enjoy Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, Pandemic (cooperative), Seven Wonders, and Hanabi (perspective taking).
⬇️ NEEDS AT LEAST ONE ADDITIONAL STUDENT! ⬇️ - Studies have shown that scholastic chess improves academic performance, concentration, logical thinking, social skills, and sportsmanship. You are ready for Intermediate Chess (with Daniel!) if you know basic piece movement, chess notation, and can check, checkmate, and stalemate. You’ve played a full game, can name the three opening principles, can focus on the middlegame for a period of at least 20 minutes at a time, and truly want to improve your chess game.

In addition to the Extended School Year (ESY) offerings for all students, we are pleased to announce a variety of courses designed to keep our Bulldogs engaged and connected to their classrooms and classmates over the long summer break. Get your blood pumping in Athletics courses this summer!
- Bay Area Adventures courses with Rob & Taylor includes walking and hiking as they explore local treasures. If you are looking for thrills, then week two Adventures is for you! From water slides to roller coasters we will attend some of the areas best places to visit for teens. We will kick off the week with a great hike in the morning and bowling in the afternoon. Following it up for the rest of the week will be Great America, a visit to Lost World in Livermore, a movie screening of Inside/Out 2, and wrapping it all up with Aqua Adventure Water Park.
- Join the dynamic duo of Drew & Daniel in Field Day Sports to learn and play field, beach, and court games. Examples include kickball, whiffle ball, ultimate frisbee, basketball, spikeball, cornhole, capture the flag, and more. Students will discuss principles of sportsmanship, healthy competition, and responsible play. As with all outside summer activities, snacks are on the list, too!

Water Adventures will explore beautiful Santa Cruz and visit the Seymour Marine Museum, take a ferry to Angel Island and explore the beauty and the history of the island, go and have fun at one of the Central Coasts beautiful beaches, and end the week with a visit to Aqua Adventure Water Park.
- Basketball Camp personalized instruction will be focused on developing skills and techniques; improving overall fitness, agility, and endurance; and building self-confidence and a love for an active lifestyle. RiseUp fosters an environment that promotes sportsmanship and respect for teammates, coaches, and officials; teamwork, communication, and leadership skills; discipline, perseverance, and a growth mindset through expert coaching & skill development. Players will master the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive strategies; develop court awareness, agility, and ball-handling prowess, and learn game strategies, offensive plays, and team tactics. Beginners welcome!
- Soccer Camp personalized instruction will be focused on developing skills and techniques; improving overall fitness, agility, and endurance; and building self-confidence and a love for an active lifestyle. RiseUp fosters an environment that promotes sportsmanship and respect for teammates, coaches, and officials; teamwork, communication, and leadership skills; discipline, perseverance, and a growth mindset through expert coaching & skill development. Players will learn to enhance ball control, dribbling, and footwork techniques; improve shooting accuracy, passing precision, and field vision; and explore offensive and defensive positioning, set pieces, and tactical awareness. Local Guest Vendors Grasshopper Kids and RiseUp Stars were invited to join our campus to round out our summer offerings.
- Travel Around the World Camp (with Grasshopper Kids) allows students to explore different countries and cultures. This unique camp kicks off with creating a personalized passport. Heading off to a new place each day, students will learn about new countries, customs and traditions, local art forms and treasures, and even pick up popular words in foreign languages. Whether it's dancing to traditional music or creating customary crafts, this series will be an unforgettable adventure!
- Embark on engaging and inspiring adventures with Grasshopper Kids' "Journey Through Art for Young Artists" – the ultimate Arts & Crafts Camp! Explore different art forms and art media such as painting,drawing, color theory, and sculpture. Learn about famous artists who have mastered different techniques, leaving their mark on the art world and allowing students to incorporate their art methodologies into personal work. From mastering the art of shading to creating stunning collages, new skills and techniques will be showcased and developed.
- Grasshopper Kids helps students discover their inner scientist with this unique Mad Science Camp exploration that'll open up your world and reinforce STEM concepts along the way. Through a combination of hands-on experiments and activities, students will observe, test, and draw conclusions about the world around them, and within. Using creative thinking and problem solving to observe, hypothesize, test and conclude, we will make something unique to take home at the end of the week.
- Get ready for action-packed excitement in RiseUp Stars' sports camps! These specialized Basketball and Soccer Camps are designed for athletes who are passionate about their sport, want to brush-up on their skills before BASSAL league play in the coming school year, and are committed to striving for their full potential. Players' personalized instruction will be focused on developing skills and techniques; improving overall fitness, agility, and endurance; and building self-confidence and a love for an active lifestyle. RiseUp fosters an environment that promotes sportsmanship and respect for teammates, coaches, and officials; teamwork, communication, and leadership skills; discipline, perseverance, and a growth mindset through expert coaching & skill development.
