HOME / MIDDLE SCHOOL / WHOLE CHILD SUPPORT
Whole Child Support
The middle school years bring academic demands and social complexity at the same time. Stanbridge's built-in supports are designed to address both, together.
Core teachers, licensed counselors, a speech-language pathologist, an occupational therapist and a learning specialist work as a coordinated team, not independently. A student struggling socially at lunch is the same student in language arts an hour later, and our staff is trained to see the whole picture.
Social-emotional learning is taught explicitly in Social Learning classes at every grade level, using evidence-based frameworks including CASEL standards, Michelle Garcia Winner's Social Thinking and Leah M. Kuyper's Zones of Regulation. The Advisory program builds community and supports executive functioning through peer relationship work, conflict resolution, service learning and activities designed to foster autonomy and competence.
Counselors work directly with families to ensure consistent strategies between home and school. The Emote system gives students a schoolwide tool to log their emotional state, creating real-time data that informs individualized support and helps staff respond quickly when a student needs something different.
